COMMUNITY COLLEGE,
WOODBURN CAMPUS, PHASE I
The Woodburn campus is a multi-phase redevelopment project. Faced with a rapidly expanding need for services in the community, the College was faced with the option of building at a new location or expanding and redeveloping at its existing location in the historic downtown district.
The college’s commitment to the downtown district drove the design style of the campus. The exterior massing of the building was articulated to lessen the impact of the building size and to project the image of multiple buildings similar to the nearby main street storefronts. Arched windows and brick detailing reminiscent of the early 1900's reinforce the image and context of the downtown historical district. Subtle differences such as type of brick, brick texture, window mullions, and covered entries provide visual clues that this is a building of the 21st.century.
The interior included administrative offices, a large 1,600 square foot multi-use classroom, computer labs, classrooms, public commons area, CCTV, central file server, and “partner space” for State and community-based programs. |
