Design: process

Good design requires a holistic approach with attention to details. Resolution and integration of primary design factors are required for the success of any specific design solution. These include:

  • Efficient functional layout (or process)
  • Site conditions and circulation
  • Consideration for growth and flexibility
  • Comfortable work environment
  • Efficient delivery and shipping movement
  • Full integration of support systems

The design process includes resolving these primary design factors within the specified project budget.

Design: aesthetics

Aesthetics are an essential part of every project. Aesthetic considerations for our clients' projects include:

  • Size and scale of the building
  • The surrounding neighborhood
  • Materials
  • Site conditions
  • Day lighting
  • Budget

Green Architecture / Sustainability

At present, we have two buildings constructed that have been designed using either Sustainable Facilities Standards and Guidelines (State of Oregon) or a LEED program sponsored by Portland General Electric.

We currently are working on a 10-acre site being developed for mixed-use retail commercial / manufacturing that will include sustainable and green design features in a comprehensive, interconnected relationship between the various uses.

This project also will feature some “green roofs”; storm water quality and infiltration; low “VOC” finishes; and sustainable building materials.
